This is one of the first skating pics I ever took. This is also the first pool I ever skated. It was in Tim's apartment complex. I always thought it would be rad to skate but it was always full. One Spring day Tim called me up and said it was empty. Steve and I headed over to check it out. We had originally planned to come back at night to skate but it was just too nice. We skated for about 20 min to a half hour before getting busted by the rental office. I feel this pic was kinda lucky since I didn't really know what I was doing. I just sat in the bottom of the pool and pointed at the coping, and then snapped it while Steve went by. Regardless, this is one of my favorite pics I have taken. (04/01)

Skull and Skate

I took this pic just to get a shot of Tim's art. We had been painting the Riverdale Ditch white to cover some graffiti and painting the parking blocks to give them a little more slide. I'm not sure why we had white spraypaint, I think Don may have grabbed it for the parking blocks. I guess it is kind of counterproductive to put more graffiti on the walls as you are covering up all the other graffiti, but this at least looked pretty cool. This has long since been covered up with more graffiti and a fresh coat of paint. As I was taking the pic Tim said to get the skateboard in the pic too, so I guess I need to give some artistic credit to him here on more than just the graffiti. In case you are wondering, the board is Don's Jason Jessee Neptune deck.

The Moffer's Handplant

This pic is also taken at the Riverdale Ditch. This is my favorite pic I've taken of Matt. He's doing an awesome trick and the angle and lighting is great. I have lots of pics of Matt taken on overcast days as the it was getting darker and they didn't come out like I would've hoped. I seem to be skating the ditch a lot as its getting dark, so a lot of the pics I have aren't as crisp as this one. (06/02)

Ditching Hour

Speaking of dark pics... This one is of the Germantown Ditch. We went over after I got home from work, which was about 12:30am then. I had just learned how to do long exposures with my camera and fooled around with it on the way over. I took a couple longer exposure shots while people were skating, but there was not enough light for the camera to pick them up. I moved the camera down before the shot was finished and got some nice trails on all the street lights. (04/03)

'Round the Bend

I stopped at this ditch on the way up to my parents house. It was in the middle of winter but it was still a beautiful day. I took a couple pics of the terrain. Everytime I look at this pic I want to drive up there and skate it. (02/02)

Home

Another shot of the Riverdale Ditch. This one has Tim laying up a frontside grind. I had walked up to take this overview shot while Tim was skating. I lined up the shot and figured I'd wait for Tim to hit the coping. I like this shot in part because the ditch is so clean and you can see the whole ditch, or at least almost all of it. Tim and I used to live about a mile away and we would skate it often. I now live much closer to the ditch but not with any skaters, so I don't skate it quite as much, which is a shame. (08/03)

Oververt

Steve in the Louisville fullpipe. He was getting the highest that day. I was trying to get a good shot of Steve with the edge of the fullpipe in the picture for context. It came out pretty nice, even though I didn't intend for Steve to be out of focus. (05/02)

Skatopia

I took this pic on my first visit to Skatopia. I was with Steve and neither knew quite what to expect. I took this shot as we were driving up the dirt driveway. You can see the first frame of the fullpipe in front of the barn and a staircase that leads to nothing. Looking at this photo I can still remember the excitement and slight nervousness that we felt as we first entered Skatopia. (05/02)

Danger Dog

Danger Dog is always around when danger is about to strike. She won't save you though, she will just be there. Here she is trying to warn us that a truckload of skaters are coming to confiscate some beer. This pic was taken at Bowl Bash 8 (05/03).

Sunset Ollie

The first day I arrived in SF Pat took me to the closest park, which was Alameda. They didn't have a whole lot there but it was fun to cruise around. Pat was doing some ollies over this ramp. I took some shots and this one came out great with the sunset. I love this picture but I'm also mad that I wasn't down a little lower. I always think it looks like Pat is just riding over top instead of being about a foot off the deck. (09/02)

12 foot mark

This pool was deep and had some wavy parts in the transitions. Steve charged it and went over the light. Definitely the highest any of us got. I like this pic a lot because there was no accident. I framed it and exactly how I wanted it and everything came out like I had intended, which is pretty rare. (07/03)

Coping

This one is of the same pool as above. I took a couple pics of the tile and then this one of the coping. You can see the deathbox and the 12' mark in the background. (07/03)

In the Tile

Steve and I hit this pool on our way out of Florida. The house was totally gutted and had some biker ramps set up inside. It was probably a 3 room house but was now 1 big room and a sagging ceiling. The pool was in the front yard. It was full of little tiny stones that we had to clean out before skating. Steve through up some high carves in the tile before getting his trucks on the lip. I like this picture but wish the head of his shadow wasn't cut off. (04/04)
