binary death

1995-2002

Hey there. If you didn.t know already, Crispus Attucks, the band, is dead now too. We were able to play about 400 shows, tour around the U.S. and Europe, put out 3 albums and a host of other recordings, and meet incredible people all over the place. It was not easy. That's the first obstacle to overcome to make your band work. Realizing you have to put much time and much effort into a project that could fall apart at any moment. Being in a band is hard because for as many people that have supported and helped, there are at least double those who choose not to help you, to not book a show for you, to not care about your band. This is just another obstacle. Don't let it stop you. Find a way around it or over it or, better yet, right through it. The only person that has to know how great your band is is you. I know this because when my band started we were a joke - absolutely horrible. Then we got better, not so much because we were more proficient with our instruments, but rather we were more determined to make this work. Despite the fact that we didn't know the right people or the right bands, we were going to play. I didn't care if they made us play after Michael Jackson to the cleaning crews because I knew my band was good and we had something to say. So whether we played to 100 friends or to 5 strangers, whether we played a storied punk space or someone's bedroom, whether we played with credible bands or crappy bands, whether we got paid a lot or nothing at all, we always tried our best. That's why I can look back with fondness now that its all over. I know I put every fucking ounce of me into my band. I hope you do the same.
